Healthy Toast Updates

I keep meaning to post an update on what’s going on with The Healthy Toast, but by the time I get a post written something new keeps coming up. So here’s a (hopefully) brief recap of exciting changes to THT!

But let’s back up a little bit. I started this blog almost four years ago as a way to share my favorite recipes and stretch my writing muscles. And because I’ve been lucky enough to have full-time employment since completing my dietetic internship, the Healthy Toast has always been more of a hobby than a side hustle. In fact, I purposefully haven’t put ads on the site as the goal wasn’t to make money but to create a site that you all could just enjoy.  And for now that remains the case.

However, what I wasn’t anticipating was the indirect opportunities that would start popping up. First it was participating in sponsored posts for various food brands, which I still love doing, but around October this year I was offered the opportunity to be a regular contributor to LoseIt!’s blog.

Based out of Boston, LoseIt! is an app for people looking to get healthier through tracking food and exercise, as well as some other pretty cool features. What I loved most about LoseIt! was their goal to create realistic content around food, exercise, and nutrition. As I’ve said before, I’m not a dietitian that believes in “food rules” – they just don’t work, plus life is too short not to enjoy eating.

So, when I was offered the opportunity to write nutrition articles, plus a few recipes, for them I was floored. To be able to get paid for something you love was a dream come true. I knew I could write, but I never realized just how fulfilling researching and writing would be. You can find my posts almost weekly over on the LoseIt blog; I’m also going to try post weekly here on The Healthy Toast with links to those articles, as I know many of you are interested in nutrition information as well as recipes (I’ll be sending out that first post this Sunday with links to all my articles so far!).

If that wasn’t enough, in November, I was approached by to become a regular contributor. Whereas LoseIt! was within my comfort zone of writing, Foodal has pushed me to want to improve upon my food photography – something that I’ve been slowly learning more about over the years, but now is almost a full-time obsession. In addition to photography, I’ll be helping to re-write posts, update recipes, and hopefully do some nutrition articles as well. Keep an eye out for these links as well!

Finally, I’ve moved from hobby to “side hustle”. Kelli McGrane Nutrition LLC is now official and I’m so excited about all the ideas I have to grow my mini business!

Phew, so I think that’s about it for now, but I’m hoping to have many more exciting announcements in the New Year! Thank you all for supporting me through this journey and my dream – and don’t worry, I also have some exciting changes to The Healthy Toast coming up this year as well ;).
